Day 2 of retyping Tracy Hickman’s StarCraft: Speed of Darkness. I’m actually having fun doing this, even though it’s not real writing. Just having a blast typing a story, and being incredibly productive at doing so.

Did five sessions today, starting around 5 pm, going to midnight, with plenty of breaks in between. My session word counts were (rounding, of course): 900, 1400, 1400, 1200, and 1300.

I’m about a quarter of the way through, and tomorrow I’ll be diving into the so-called “murky middle”, the place that kills many writers. I don’t expect to feel any drag, since I’m just typing, but I don’t really know what to expect.

Plot-wise, most of the characters have been introduced, Ardo’s PTSD and memory issues have been demonstrated, and his squad has started their mission. The quarter of the way mark ends on a cliffhanger, which cuts Ardo off from his team and the real action of the book begins.

Now I’m going to spend the rest of the night eating dinner and watching Boston Legal.

Word count: 6,362… Total: 12,293

Hours: 5… Total: 9
